Pendant made of Semi-Precious Stone – Jade
The stone "jade," revered by the Chinese, is found in two varieties: nephrite and jadeite. Nephrite is slightly more lustrous and heavier, while jadeite is a bit harder. Interestingly, when struck, nephrite can produce a musical tone, whereas jadeite cannot. Nephrite most commonly appears in various shades of green, but it can also range from white to grey, yellowish, or brownish tones, and can even be nearly black. Nephrite with a deep, even green color is considered the most valuable. It may sometimes be impregnated or dyed, although this is less common than with jadeite. This process enhances the quality and color of the material. Nephrite is an excellent gemstone for making jewelry. It is most often polished into cabochons or beads and used for pendants, bracelets, necklaces, rings, and earrings. It is especially popular in Asia for crafting talismans, amulets, brooches, decorative pins, and hair ornaments.
