Silicone Beads for Dummy Clips, Teethers and Children’s Jewellery

Silicone beads are soft, tactile beads for jewellery, children’s accessories and all kinds of DIY projects. The EM ART catalog covers silicone beads in plenty of shapes, sizes and colours: rounds, cubes, stars, discs, faceted beads, butterflies and hearts, plus letter and number beads for personalised pieces.

Silicone beads are very popular choice for baby dummy clips, teethers, and children’s bracelets and necklaces, but they’re just as good for charms, keychains and themed gifts. With so many colours and shapes to choose from, it’s easy to create a one-off design for any occasion or idea.

Shapes and colours of silicone beads

Go for classic rounds, or pick something more distinctive for a personalised piece:

• Round beads are the all-rounder for clips, teethers, bracelets and necklaces.
• Cubes make up a large part of the range. They pair well with rounds, and the letter and number cubes let you spell out a name or a short message.
• Stars, hearts and butterflies add a playful, themed touch to children’s bracelets, clips and gifts.
• Discs and faceted beads bring flat and geometric shapes into the mix, changing the rhythm of a design alongside round beads.

Colours run from white, pink, blue and green to coral, salmon, mixed shades and many more.

Silicone bead sizes and holes

The right size of silicone bead depends on what you’re making. You’ll find small sizes for delicate children’s accessories as well as larger beads for bolder, decorative pieces.

Silicone beads come with 2 mm and 2.5 mm. The larger hole makes it easier to work with thicker cord or elastic, while the smaller one gives you more precision on detailed designs.

When choosing your beads, think about:

• Size: how big you want the finished piece to be and how it should look.
• Hole: how thick your elastic, cord or stringing base is.
• Shape: whether you’re after a classic, childlike or themed design.
• Colour scheme: so the finished project looks balanced and personal.

What are silicone beads used for

• Baby dummy clips. The beads are strung on a suitable base and finished with a clip fastener. For this kind of project, use only components designed for that purpose and follow their safety instructions.
• Teethers and baby accessories. Their soft surface is one reason silicone beads are used for these items, but the finished piece must be assembled with suitable components and checked regularly for wear.
• Children’s bracelets and necklaces. Mix silicone rounds and cubes on elastic cord or another suitable base. Letter beads are perfect for name bracelets.
• Seasonal charms. Red, white and colourful silicone beads add an unexpected accent to yarn or cord.
• Gifts and accessories. Use letters, numbers and themed shapes for personalised bracelets, keychains and small gifts.

Ideas for personalised projects with silicone beads

• A name bracelet. Spell out a name in letter cubes and frame it with colourful rounds on either side.
• A dummy clip. Mix a few colours and put a name or short word in the middle.
• A christening gift. Choose soft, gentle colours and themed shapes for a small personalised keepsake.
• A charm for a child. Add white and red beads to cord or yarn, with a small letter or number as a personal touch.

What to combine silicone beads with

For bracelets and necklaces, silicone or another suitable elastic is usually all you need. Add wooden or plastic beads for contrasting texture, and metal parts where the project allows.

For dummy clips and teethers, use only components made for these items. Don’t swap specialist clips, cords or other parts for ordinary jewellery findings.

Useful for the job: a suitable base, clips and other materials.
